Lorenz Wagner founded the Lowa company in 1923 in Jetzendorf, a Bavarian village near Munich. At that time, the "Haferi," traditional Bavarian double-stitched boots, were produced entirely by hand. In 1930, mountain boots for alpine skiers and laced ski boots were added to the LOWA range. When Wagner's heirs took over in the 1950s, they added new products in the spirit of the founder. Always at the forefront of technology, the brand introduced the Air system in ski boots in 1972 and launched the Trekker model in 1982. LOWA was acquired by Tecnica in 1993 but retained its factory and headquarters in Jetzendorf, Germany.
